Major General (Ret.) Dr. Tarek Gomaa Mahdi

Major General (Ret.) Dr. Tarek Gomaa Mahdi is a prominent Egyptian security expert, academic researcher, and media analyst specializing in counter-terrorism, cybercrime, and the security implications of artificial intelligence. With over three decades of hands-on experience in law enforcement and national security, he is widely regarded as one of the leading voices bridging operational security practice with advanced academic research in the Arab region.

Dr. Gomaa served for 31 years as a police officer, including more than 20 years within the State Security and National Security sectors, where he was directly involved in counter-terrorism operations, intelligence analysis, and strategic threat assessment.
His career coincided with some of the most complex security challenges faced by Egypt and the region, providing him with deep insight into extremist networks, radicalization patterns, and evolving security threats. Academically, Dr. Gomaa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Police Sciences from the Egyptian Police Academy, a Master’s degree in Digital Forensic Evidence, and a PhD in Cybercrime.
