The strong, positive engagement of the UAE in confronting the global challenges is demonstrated through its efforts and presence in the UN events on international cooperation. In this framework, the State’s delegation is participating in the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, and this emphasizes the success and effectiveness of the Emirati diplomacy that adopts the development and peace values. Although the UAE is located in a blazing geographic region overwhelmed by conflicts and facing political interventions and regional ambitions, which render the region an open area for the emergence of new international alliances and for re-arranging the balance of power between the major powers, the UAE’s developmental efforts are always continuous. This contributed to promoting the UAE’s readiness and enhancing its power through heading towards taking a prominent position at the global level while ignoring the axes policy or the international polarization.
The developmental approach adopted by the UAE, for which the State has allocated a large space in its diplomacy, is translated into scientific, cultural, economic and humanitarian convergence with the entire countries of the world, whether through bilateral or multilateral alliances.
The UAE assumes important international roles in adopting common dialogue language and permanent moving towards sustainable development, which benefits all parts and contribute to minds communication to eradicate all forms of poverty, fighting inequality between the two genders, combating the climatic change phenomena and other several challenges, with a special focus on helping the most vulnerable categories in this year under the circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic. The UAE’s focus of the development of the human may lead to the emergence of positive international interactions supporting security and stability in the Middle East and North Africa.
The speech of H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to the UN General Assembly before the leaders of the world emphasizes the developmental model of the UAE, as it is characterized by political and community stability and combining between originality and modernity.
Moreover, the promotion of the values of loyalty and belonging to homeland, the preservation of the Arabic language and the moderate Islamic values with regard to tolerance and coexistence between religions and acceptance of woman participation in works side by side of the man have rendered the UAE more opened to the world, where it ranked first in 2020 on 121 indices of the sustainable development indices at the global level and on 479 Arabic indices as announced during the last meeting of the cabinet.
There is no doubt that planning for the future is demonstrated apparently after the Cabinet approved the UAE’s strategy of future foresight in September 2016, as a part of a proactive step aiming at seizing the opportunities and becoming prepared for confronting the challenges over all critical sectors of the State and consolidating the culture of supremacy and competition, in order to occupy the first position with regard to 17 goals of sustainable development in three areas: economic, social and environmental areas. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates formed national the committee on the sustainable development goals in 2017, and it launched several humanitarian initiatives that went beyond the national level and extended globally via the UAE’s external aids. All of the foregoing reflects the UAE’s seriousness and the renewal of its mission while getting prepared for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the State.
