International Conference on the Strategic Rivalries in the Middle East
Short Description:
International conference on “the Strategic Rivalries in the Middle East” which will be held at the RCAST, the University of Tokyo in cooperation with Institute of Global Security and Defense Studies. This conference is a joint project of researchers and practitioners who are affiliated with both institutes. This conference will tackle with the issue of the risks and opportunities in the new security dynamics in the Middle East in the context of the growing sense and perception of U.S. withdrawal from the region.
Satoshi Ikeuchi, Professor of Religion and Global Security of the RCAST, the University of Tokyo (UTokyo-RCAST) will organize the event. Sayed Ghoneim, Chairman, Institute of Global Security and Defense Studies (IGSDA), Abu Dhabi, will supervise and co-chair with Prof. Ikeuchi the whole event.
This conference will be dedicated for the intellectual exchange between scholars and practitioners from Japan and the Middle East, particularly the Arab world. Main topic of the conference is the newly emerging order in the Middle East and the Arabian/Persian Gulf region with particular emphasis on East Asian role in it.
A group of scholars both from Japan and the Middle Eastern countries are to be attending, including former high-ranking officers of Egyptian and Arab security institutions.
